Auto Sound Specialist: Staff | Chapman "Chip" Lucas | Born in Winston-Salem N.C. moved to Midlothian Va. worked as a cabinet maker a few years. Then started a furniture business. Later got into tree surgery cause it was a good way to get the cross sections I was making furniture out of. Wanted some adventure, so I joined the Navy. They sent me to school for about two years and I hit the fleet as a Sonar/Fire-control tech. We were surrounded by millions of dollars worth of sound equipment and had the ability to listen/track/ID subs from many many miles away. When I got out of Navy I had a job fixing the CIA’s computers but their was a 6 month hiring freeze on DOD so I walked into the recently opened Auto Sound and asked if there was anything I could do. One thing lead to another and within a year I owned Auto Sound Specialists. We were wiped out by “Hugo” but sprang back thanks to my tree climbing background and bought the property and rebuilt. I competed in 1992 and 1993 and was the points champion for the South both years. In 1995 we had the world SPL record for a short time with Ikes Fultron van I have been a contest judge and have enjoyed judging some of the worlds best sounding cars. The fact that the only limits I put on what I can build are (time and money) have proved to challenging and fun. | Shane Douet
